Every piece has its own story: from quirky everyday pendants to extravagant engagement rings, we asked our clients to tell us about their personal journey from sketch to finish.
Laura & David
How did you meet?
David: We were classmates together at grad school.
Can you share your proposal story?
I told my fiancee that I was flying out the day after Christmas to stay with her family through New Years. I booked a plane ticket (and cancelled it!) to be able to show evidence... I really sold it hard. In reality, I was flying out to surprise her Christmas Day. Her dad and sister were rock stars, and helped me execute my master plan. I took pictures along the way, including me at the airport, on the plane, at the Portland airport, and at her front door. Her sister made sure the her phone was close by, and I texted them all at once. Surprise! I waited a bit, and after dinner it was time to exchange presents. It wasn't until I told her to close her eyes to get her present (with EVERYONE in the room) that she figured out what was about to happen!
Can you share a fun fact about you as a couple?
Laura is 1000x friendlier of the two of us, but hates talking to strangers. Luckily I'm more than happy to when we're traveling.
Were you involved in the design process?
I was involved, but I would have been lost without Tisha's help and eye for design. She had great ideas, and they really reflected Laura's taste and style (down to little details, like making the main stone east-west... a small nuance, but EVERYONE comments on the design element). The result was perfect.
Are there any details included in the piece that have personal meaning, such as heirloom diamonds?
No, but I really hope this becomes an heirloom piece in our family.
Notes from the Designer
It was such a pleasure to be a part of this thoughtful, special engagement. Oval diamonds are really popular right now, and turning the stone horizontally and adding a perfectly matched pair of tapered baguette diamonds helped set this ring apart.
