Every piece has its own story: from quirky everyday pendants to extravagant engagement rings, we asked our clients to tell us about their personal journey from sketch to finish.
V & A
How did you meet?
We met through a mutual friend. We serendipitously sat next to each other at a group dinner, and spent the entire evening talking. One of the guys actually predicted that we would get married that night.
Can you share your proposal story?
V (groom): I proposed on A’s first trip to India while we were in Jaipur at Rambagh Palace, which was previously the official residence of the beautiful Maharani Gayatri Devi. I knew I wanted a royal gesture of welcome and commitment on A’s first trip to my birth land. I worked with the concierge to help design a romantic evening, complete with a classical Indian folk dancers & musicians and a private candlelit dinner for two... an evening worthy of queens. After making her wait in anticipation for a few hours, I finally proposed and asked her to be my wife.
A (bride): I thought we were just going to dinner when we walked up to a private area on the terrace where there were flowers, gorgeous rangolis, and candles everywhere. I saw musicians, dancers, and a table set for two in the distance in a private veranda. I immediately knew he was going to propose, but then he waited for two or three hours until after we finished dinner so I would really be surprised. It was truly the most romantic night of my life!
Can you share a fun fact about you as a couple?
We are suckers for creative culinary experiences... we geek out over Michelin-star chefs, and admittedly plan trips around dinner reservations. (We are also guilty of actively campaigning for Michelin to cover chefs we think are worthy of their coveted stars.
Did you drop any hints about what you were looking for in an engagement ring? If so, how?
Yes, we both knew each other’s style and generally what we liked. We wanted something classic and timeless. We casually browsed pictures so I could be sure what she liked; I’d also point out other women’s rings and gauge her reactions. Over 2 or 3 months, I could triangulate what she wanted. The hard part was getting her size down. We stopped by a jewelry store to look at some other jewelry pieces, and I took a mental note of her ring size.
Are there any other thoughts you'd like to share?
Tisha and Parag are impeccably professional. They are friends, but no slack when it comes to getting exactly what their clients want.
Notes from the Designer
Put this one in the books as one of the most thoughtful, regal engagement stories of all time. V pulled out ALL the stops possible to surprise his bride, and we knew we had to deliver with the engagement ring.
